NOTE: Jerrys Gaskets has evaluated the Melling lifter for use in the C4 Corvette LT5 engine and finds the lifter suitable for use with stock camshafts and valves, PROVIDED VALVE STEM HEIGHT IS CORRECT. 

The ORIGINAL, stock valve stem height specification, relative to the camshaft centerline is 1.340" for 1990~1992 models with  375hp LT5 engine, and 1.360" for 1993-1995 models with 405hp LT5 engine.

HOWEVER, DUE TO DIMENSIONAL CHANGES OF THE MELLING LIFTER, THE  VALVE STEM HEIGHT FOR 1990~1992 MODELS WITH 375hp LT5 ENGINE SHOULD BE NO LESS THAN 1.360", THE SAME AS THE 1993~1995 LT5 ENGINE.

Valve stem height should be carefully checked to insure valve stem height is NO LESS THAN 1.360," relative to camshaft centerline  Grinding valves and seats will alter the valve stem height as will stem tip grinding.

These lifters should not be used with reground camshafts that reduce the stock camshaft lobe base circle diameter without confirming correct valve stem height for proper hydraulic lifter compression.

It is essential to measure valve stem height to insure the hydraulic lifter is compressed within the correct operating range.
